1 person killed, others injured in crash involving police pursuit in Woodbridge

The attorney general says that a Woodbridge police officer was trying to pull over a Nissan Maxima on Route 1 just before midnight on Feb. 19.

The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General is investigating a deadly crash in Woodbridge.

The attorney general says that a Woodbridge police officer was trying to pull over a Nissan Maxima on Route 1 just before midnight on Feb. 19, but the driver of that car sped off. Officials say that Nissan then crashed into a separate vehicle near Gill Lane.

The passenger in the Nissan was critically injured in the crash and was pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m. Officials say all other people involved in the crash were seriously injured and taken to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center for treatment. They also say tha ta dead dog was found inside the Nissan.

No police officers were injured.

Route 1 was closed for a time in the area but has since reopened.

The names of the people involved in the incident have not yet been released.
