One person was killed in an accident on the George Washington Bridge early Sunday morning.
The Port Authority says a car collided with a tractor-trailer on the upper level of the eastbound side.
Investigators say four people were in the car, and two of them had to be extricated from the vehicle.
One of the occupants of the car was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other three are in stable condition. Officials have not identified the deceased person.
All lanes were closed during the accident investigation, prompting large traffic backups this morning. Lanes have since been reopened.
