Rutgers University was packed with job seekers young and old Wednesday, all hoping to find employment at a university job fair.
Representatives from nearly 200 employers were stationed at the fair. Attendance included both fresh-faced college students and a worldlier crowd struggling with the slumping economy and weak job market.
"We're seeing more experienced-level people - five years, 10 years?" says Richard White, of Rutgers Career Services. "That's because it's an opportunity to make face-to-face contact."
Those more-experienced attendees included Lynette Seader, of East Brunswick. Seader had worked as a purchaser for years before losing her job.
"I never expected to be laid off," says Seader. "But these are difficult times we are living in and here I am."
