A sexual assault has women and police on high alert in Red Bank.
The incident occurred early Sunday in a municipal parking lot. Police say the attack was unusual because the victim was with a friend at the time. According to authorities, the attacker grabbed the victim, but she put up a fight and managed to kick him off.
?She was actually walking with somebody else and the guy still made a move,? Captain Stephen McCarthy, of the Red Bank Police Department, said. ?Most instances, even when they do occur, tend to happen when the victim is alone and in this case the victim did do everything she was supposed to do.?
The attacker is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s with a medium build.
Police have beefed up patrols and surveillance in the area. Women are urged to stay vigilant and walk in groups, especially after dark.
