The young woman who was deliberately run over in Elizabeth last week is making progress, her father tells News 12.
Ian Scott, Morgan Scott's father, said Friday his daughter is now in rehab. Police say Vincent Jean chased and ran over Scott's daughter in a case of extreme road rage.
Police said Jean became triggered when Scott, 23, tried to take photos of a minor fender bender they'd just been in.
Ian Scott said his family wants to express their gratitude for all the support -- emotional and financial -- from the community. A GoFundMe organized by Elizabeth Police Department Detective Darrin Williamson has already raised over $100,000 in just four days.
“We are on board to continue doing this from our heart,” said Williamson. “And whenever we are needed or are called upon, we are there in different areas helping everyone and anyone. "
Morgan Scott is attending Penn State virtually and works for the city of Elizabeth. Her father says her medical insurance is covering some of the bills but not all of them. Jean’s auto insurance won’t help, which is why they are relying on donations with a long road ahead for Morgan. One of Morgan and her sisters’ old classmates – Olympian Sydney McLaughlin and her family – generously donated over $30,000 to cover expenses.
