An early-morning fire in Newark has claimed the life of an elderly woman.Officials say the blaze broke out around 4 a.m. Wednesday at a three-story home on South 11th Street. Fire officials say it appears the fire started somewhere in the hallway between the first and second floors of the home.According to officials, 74-year-old Frances Hill heard the smoke alarms and alerted others that were living in the building. While the other families made it out safely, Hill was unable to get out of the home. The victim's son says she was on oxygen and recently got home from the hospital.The Red Cross says it will assist the families that were living in the home.
