A woman from Jersey City was arrested for burglarizing two U.S. post offices six times, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger says.
Officials say Zyeama Johnson, 29, broke into two post offices in Hudson County and stole mail during six different occasions from January to February 2023. She had previously been employed at one of the locations, according to authorities.
On each occasion, officials say Johnson stole mail from the post office and loaded the stolen mail into her vehicle before driving off. During the sixth incident, she was arrested.
Johnson is charged with six counts of burglary. Each count of burglary carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Johnson appeared in court Wednesday in Newark and was released on $100,000 unsecured bond.
