Showers will continue to slowly envelop the area tonight. A swath of more robust rain is expected in the morning, just after the morning commute.
The rain and the continuing snowmelt will force more water into the streets. We will have to navigate water-filled potholes and localized flooding for most of the morning on Thursday.
The first round of morning rain will ease a touch by lunchtime, but we will be dealing with on-and-off showers for most of the day. As a result, the temperatures will not have much of a chance to reach there seasonable potential.
The second punch of weather comes in late Thursday night. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s. I think the timing of when this batch of energy arrives could lend to some wintry conditions. Will have to look at the thermal profile of the atmosphere tomorrow, but there is a chance for snow mixing with sleet. A slush-like accumulation could make sidewalks and roads slippery.
The forecast is unsettled heading into the weekend, but it doesn't appear to be a washout. The temperatures are expected to warm a bit. How warm? Well, we are looking at a few scenarios. One is not as warm as the other.
This time of year leads to a lot of false warming forecasts. The ocean was very cold this year and any kind of wind that comes off of it will drastically keep neighborhoods much cooler. I don't think guidance will be taking this into account. Listen, the temperatures should be warmer than average. The question right now is, by how much?
