Nicer weather arrives into Tuesday morning following powerful weekend Nor'easter
The weather on Long Island is finally dry again with several days of better weather on the way. There is a chance for some steady rain to return by Sunday.

OVERNIGHT
Our weather is finally better across Nassau and Suffolk counties following the powerful nor'easter that brought wind damage, coastal flooding, significant erosion and several inches of rain to parts of Long Island. Overnight, clouds will clear a bit and it will become partly cloudy at times into early Tuesday morning, with low temperatures in the upper 50s and a north-northwest breeze around 5 to 15 mph.
COASTAL NOR'EASTER IMPACTS IMPROVING
Some brief minor coastal flooding in southern Nassau and southwestern Suffolk counties cannot be ruled out during the next few high tide cycles, but it will be much better than earlier high tides.

Beyond the coastal impacts of this past weekend's Nor'easter, the wind knocked down more than 1,200 trees across Long Island and 4 to nearly 7 inches of rain fell across much of the island, too. Thankfully, the storm is behind us, and nicer weather is on the way, but storm cleanup continues for many Long Islanders through the week.

OVERNIGHT: Dry with partial clearing overnight and a light breeze. Wind: north-northwest 5 to 15 mph. Low temperatures will be in the 50s into early Tuesday morning.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny and a bit warmer with high temperatures around 70 degrees. Wind: Northwest to west 5 to 15 mph. Boaters: No advisories. Lows around 56 degrees.
WEDNESDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 72 degrees. Lows near 59 degrees.
THURSDAY: Sun and clouds. Warmer. Highs around 74 degrees. Lows near 63 degrees.
FRIDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 75 degrees. A passing rain shower is possible at night. Lows near 57 degrees.
SATURDAY: A couple of rain showers possible in the early morning. Otherwise, breaks of sunshine with highs around 68 degrees. Lows near 55 degrees.
SUNDAY: WEATHER TO WATCH - There is a chance for more weekend rain on Sunday. It would not be a multi-day major storm like this past weekend's Nor'easter, thankfully, but another inch or so of rain cannot be ruled out at this time. This can still change for the better and not be as impactful and stay mostly south and east of Long Island, so stay with News 12 through the week for updates on this next steady rain chance. Highs around 65 degrees. Lows near 58 degrees.
MONDAY: A few showers possible early in the morning. Otherwise, dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs around 66 degrees. Lows near 50 degrees.
