The Westfield Garden State Plaza mall in Paramus has unveiled a new smartphone app to make it easier to park and shop this holiday season.
Although the mall has more than 10,000 parking spots, many shoppers say that parking can be difficult during the weekends and around the holidays.
"They're just driving, circling, some people pull over and park. Some people double park and block cars, it gets pretty bad," says shopper Gabriel Devers.
The mall does offer valet parking for $10, but now there is another option in the MyPark smartphone app.
Users of the app will have access to Parking Deck B's 33 spaces. It costs $10 for the first four hours and $5 for each additional hour.
"Reserve up to six months ahead of time or you can pull up here and say 'I want to reserve a spot' and you can just come right up to the area, the reserved area, and download it," says Lisa Herrman, the mall's senior marketing director.
The parking spots have yellow barriers that retract when it recognizes the customer's car and pops back up when they leave.
The company is offering a promotion for free parking. Customers can use the code MYPARK1 to try it out.
