A wildfire in Passaic County has consumed at least 185 acres of land and is 60% contained, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.

The fire is in a wooded area near Buckabear Pond in West Milford. Dozens of firefighters were out in the rocky terrain working to put out the fire.

Officials say that since it hasn’t rained in the area in two weeks, the dry conditions are making the effort difficult.

No homes or businesses are being threatened. Clinton Road is closed between Goldfinch Lane and Van Orden Road.

The Forest Fire Service says the fire started in an area mainly used by hikers or hunters. The cause was not immediately known.

The Upper Greenwood Lake Volunteer Fire Company is lending a helping hand and is accepting donations at its firehouse on Warwick Turnpike.
