Students who participated in a senior prank at West Milford High School on June 8 will face a three day in-school suspension until Monday, according to assistant principal Nicholas Pollaro.
The decision comes after a school board meeting was held Wednesday to discuss the issue. Videos and photos of the prank posted on social media show hurdles in the school hallway and offices covered in toilet paper and shredded paper. Students were seen walking around the school, with one even wearing the head of the school mascot.
Pollaro says any unauthorized students at the high school on June 8, regardless of their level of participation, is identifiable through camera footage.
In addition to in-school suspension, students involved in the prank will not be allowed to join the senior walk, according to Pollaro.
Pollaro added if students report to the high school and “conduct themselves appropriately during their assigned discipline,” he will reconsider their participation in the senior walk to their elementary schools.
According to one of the parents who attended Wednesday’s board meeting, the senior walk is an event students look forward to every year as the elementary students and teachers clap for students parading through the halls. The parent also told News 12 that pictures are taken of everyone on the playground at the school.
Pollaro says students will be permitted to participate in graduation practice on Monday. He says at the conclusion of practice, students should report back to the auditorium. He says students are permitted to take any finals they have left but must report to the auditorium during the times they are not taking a final.
