Wayne Mayor Christopher P. Vergano has announced the first positive COVID-19 test of a Wayne township resident.

In a statement, Mayor Vergano says he was informed of the new information by Passaic County health officials.
The mayor says the resident is a 71-year-old female and is currently admitted at Chilton Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The news comes after the town issued a local state of emergency Monday that included many new restrictions, including the mandatory closing of the Willowbrook Mall.
