New Jersey American Water company begins replacing four sections of its
36-inch water main on Route 206 in Somerville to ensure residents don't face any water main break issues over the holidays.
Work began on Tuesday, and they’ll be working around the clock, 24/7 right through completion of this project on Dec. 18.
Occasional traffic related issues should be the only issue residents face, but there could be times of low water pressure or brown water as well during the repair period for some customers in Bridgewater, Raritan Borough and Somerville.
Early next year, work will begin on a comprehensive rehabilitation of the line.
