Water service was restored early Monday after emergency crews repaired a water main break that disrupted customers in Linden.
Crews worked through bitter cold conditions after the break was reported late Sunday night.
Customers were first notified just after 9 p.m. about the water main break, according to American Water. The affected area ran along Morris Avenue from Penn Place to Clinton Street.
Customers were warned they could experience discolored or cloudy water, low water pressure, or no water.
Company officials said service was restored before 9 a.m. Monday, after repairs extended beyond the original six-hour-and-30-minute estimate.
American Water said some customers may continue to notice changes in their water even after repairs were completed.
