A water main break Wednesday left a few hundred households in Perth Amboy high and dry. The break occurred on State Street, just under the Outerbridge Crossing. Crews from Middlesex Water Company say water has been restored to most homes that were affected. Besides causing a headache for residents, the break also forced the Middlesex County Fire Marshal to place a water tanker in the city, just in case a fire broke out in the area. Officials say the 12-inch pipe that broke is probably around 100 years old.
