Groups from across Monmouth County came together Saturday for Clean Ocean Action?s Bi-Annual Beach Sweep at Pier Village in Long Branch.Volunteers worked to clean up the beach in time for the summer season. Garbage such as plastic food containers and cigarette filters were found and removed across Pier Village. The volunteers hope that the community will be more aware about littering on the beaches."It's just so important to make sure you just throw everything out and just be really conscious about what you're doing on the beach this summer,? said volunteer Ashley Chandler.Over 60 sites in New Jersey were cleaned this week by more than 3,000 volunteers.
