A volunteer fire company is under investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
News 12 New Jersey has learned that Hamilton Township officials called an emergency meeting Tuesday night regarding the Mizpah Fire Company, which has since been shut down.
The Atlantic County prosecutor did not reveal any information about the shutdown, citing the ongoing criminal investigation. But News 12 crews witnessed investigators pulling machinery out of the fire company building.
Township officials say that fire coverage in the town will not be affected because of the closure. The Hamilton Township police chief has been put in charge to make sure other fire companies will be responding to calls for the time being.
News 12 reached out to the Mizpah Fire Company for a statement but did not hear back.
