Video games now a part of school curriculum for some NYC students
Students across New York City are now adding gaming controllers to their school supply lists, working together and using games like Minecraft to push their creative boundaries.
An initiative from the mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment is putting video games in schools across the city.

"I think the cognitive engagement, and being able to use Minecraft to build, to be hands on and build, is something innovative and valuable that we're bringing into our school," said Selin Alicanoglu Satilmis, principal of Maspeth High School.
The version of the game used by students is made especially for New York City - and features some of familiar facades, including the Kingsbridge Armory.
The mayor's office says in the future they would love to see the setup like the one they have at Maspeth High School at schools in every borough.
