Uniondale man gets 25 years to life in prison for trying to kill 4 officers

A Uniondale man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for trying to kill four Nassau police officers.
Prosecutors say Duane Costa opened fire on the officers during a traffic stop in Hempstead in 2018.
Police stopped him for failing to signal for a turn. Officers smelled alcohol and saw that Costa was not wearing a seatbelt.
Officials say when officers ordered him out of the car, he got out and started shooting.
The officers were not hurt.
