Union County police: Missing 14-year-old girl with autism found, undergoing a physical evaluation

The Union County Police Department said late Sunday night that a missing 14-year-old girl with autism who was last seen in Watchung Reservation was found.
They say Sophia Hetrick was undergoing a physical evaluation and would be reunited with her caregiver.
Union County police was working with multiple public safety agencies during the search for the girl.
Posts on social media throughout the community suggested those in the immediate area to check sheds and open garage areas as she is known to hide from searchers during past events.
New Jersey State Police deployed a helicopter earlier in the evening to scan the area with special night vision equipment to help locate Hetrick.
There was visible first responder presence walking in yards and wooded areas during the night until she was located.
