In their first interview since their son committed suicide, Tyler Clementi's parents told People Magazine they found out their son was gay just weeks before his death.
Jane and Joseph Clementi told People Magazine they were, "completely unprepared" to learn of his sexual orientation.
They say he tearfully revealed the news to them days before leaving for Rutgers University.
Tyler Clementi jumped off the George Washington Bridge to his death three weeks later after his roommate, Dharun Ravi, allegedly used his webcam to watch Tyler having a sexual encounter with another man.
The Clementis are hoping to prevent similar tragedies with the foundation they've created which will fund programs for gay teens, bullying and suicide prevention.
