Two people were killed in a crash on Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen late Sunday night, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The crash near 51st Street happened around 11:30 p.m.

Details about the crash were not provided and it was not immediately known if anyone else was hurt.

One neighbor told News 12 that he heard the crash from inside his home.

“I was in my house, and I heard like a real sound, like a banging sound, real hard. And when I came out, I saw, like the fire department coming,” says Luis Benitez Angel.

Tonnelle Avenue was closed between 46th Street and 69th Street for several hours following the crash but has since reopened.

The name of the victims was not released.

The Hudson County prosecutor says that the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General is leading the investigation.
