NJ Transit commuters on the North Jersey Coast Line are facing major delays Wednesday morning because of a downed tree in Monmouth County.

NJ Transit said service on the line is suspended in both directions between the Aberdeen-Matawan and Long Branch stations. A tree fell onto overhead service wires near Middletown, causing the suspension.

There is no word on when service will resume. NJ Transit customers planning to use the line are advised to visit njtransit.com/abc for information about alternate routes.

As a weekend storm moves closer to New Jersey, winds have already picked up across the area, with some locations near the shore reporting gusts of more than 20 mph.
