Heads up if you're headed to Manasquan beach -- one of just two railroad crossings in town to the beach will closed for 10 days.
It's part of the ongoing work by the New Jersey Department of Transportation to upgrade railroad crossings in the state. They do about 30 a year for safety reasons, and at this crossing, they will replace the grade with a concrete pad and new asphalt approaches.
Traffic will be diverted to the Stockton Lake Boulevard crossing. People can also access the beach front by using the Glimmer Glass Bridge on Brielle Road. The Manasquan police station is just a few feet away and will coordinate traffic detours
The scheduled closure is for 10 days, but if weather cooperates and work can finish sooner, the detours will be lifted ahead of schedule.
