If you were traveling for the holidays on Tuesday, it may have been a slow go because of the snow in parts of the state.

“It’s just a beautiful snowy day. I’m going to appreciate the day today,” said Ingrid Segev, of Morristown. “I love a little cold weather, and it feels so Christmasy.”

Ingrid and many others were out grabbing last-minute gifts.

Some kids had a snow day and started their winter break a little early.

Others were out hitting the roads for a holiday getaway. AAA expects 2.8 million New Jersey residents to travel for the holidays. The organization says 90% will be driving.

Crews were out laying down salt, shoveling and plowing.

“Some of the back roads are pretty rough, but the main roads are fine and salted heavily,” said Logan Escue, of Kinnelon.

“I just want everyone to stay safe around the holidays, especially trying to get to the mall,” said Kevin Pane, of Rockaway. “I trust New Jersey public works and all our police and fire departments are going to be out in full force, keeping everyone safe.”
