A threatening message was found at a private middle school in Englewood while students were on a break for Passover.
Dwight-Englewood School remained closed for an additional day Wednesday as the Englewood Police Department continued the investigation into the threatening message. School will resume today operating on a normal schedule.
The contents of what the message said or how it was presented is unclear.
Dwight-Englewood School was also the subject of an apparent racist group text chain that involved about 30 seventh grade boys, including the son of head of school Jeremy Gregersen.
NorthJersey.com reported that Gregersen sent out an email to parents, stating that graffiti was found on the wall of the boys' bathroom near the Middle and Upper School Library. The message threatened the entire school community and also mentioned the Black and Hispanic communities.
School officials said in a statement earlier this week, "On the evening of April 22, we discovered threatening language on our campus. We notified the authorities, and we began an investigation, which is ongoing. While we are confident the community can return to school safely, we are nonetheless delaying school by an additional day our return from our Passover holiday so we may continue the investigation and prepare for a thoughtful and reassuring return."
