According to Retail Me Not, almost 50% of Americans wait for Prime Day to make their biggest purchases of the year with 88% planning to shop during the event.
News 12's consumer reporter Janice Lieberman gives us The Real Deal on how to find the best deals.
Amazon is set to slash prices on their own products like Echo's, Ring doorbells, Fire tablets, pressure cookers, iRobot and Shark vacuums, wireless headphones and more.
We can expect Target, Best Buy and Nordstroms to follow their lead.
It's all about the shopping strategy. Are you getting a good deal? Do you really need that product? Surveys show we will spend $288 on Prime Day. So, how do you track the price and know it's truly a good deal?
Shopping expert Trae Bodge says get ready for flash sales.
"Utilize the tools that Amazon has, like their Amazon Assistant browser extension. That's a good place to make a list and look for deals. You can click on the different deal options on their site. There will be lightening deals that will come and go really fast," Bodge says.
Finding the best deal and catching it before it goes takes homework. Here are some tips to get your ready:
Add the items you think you want to your cart and monitor any price changes.

Amazon has a price tracking browser extension much like CamelCamelCamel, and Keepa. It's the best way to monitor and not miss out on a bargain.
Download the Amazon app and tap the "heart" icon. You will get push alerts when there is a price drop.

If you are not looking for electronics, no worries, Prime Day is set to offer deals on apparel and appliances.
As always, a sale is not a sale if you don't really need the item.

Remember, Prime Day is only offered to Prime members. If you want to get in on it, you could share a membership with your family or friend.

Amazon's credit card will give you 5% back on your purchases. And you can always shop the competitors if you want to save on membership fees.
