Spring break travel costs are soaring this year.
For March and April getaways, flying within the U.S. averages $280 round-trip per ticket, up 4% from last year.
Caribbean beaches hit harder at $425 on average, while Mexico and Central America climb to $455. Europe offers a deal at $630 a seat, though it's not summer there yet.
Closer to home, some travel agents suggest Atlantic City as a local option, with its city website boasting tens of millions of visitors yearly, even for families. Derin Lisi of Rope Drop Travel added, “A lot of my friends are like not big gamblers, I am not a big gambler nor is my husband, but we love it, my daughter loves it, it’s a great place to just kind of unwind and it feels like a vacation.” She recommends booking a year ahead for the best deals.
