Every year the Macy's Thanksgiving parade is seen by more than 3.5 million people in New York City. For many families it is an annual tradition but while watching the parade is free, that morning of memories can add up.
"You're looking at $100 to $200 for a family of four to come in and have a full day of enjoyment at the parade," said Caleb Silver with Investopedia.
A lot of that money is spent simply getting on there. According to Silver, train tickets will run you around $30 roundtrip. If you want the convenience of your car, be prepared to up your budget.
"Expect to pay upwards of around $100 to $150 for parking, plus the tolls," said Silver.
Once you're there, the money you spend is at your discretion.
"You got to spend money on those plush toys. Those are running around $30 right now. If you want Bluey or Pikachu or Stewie."
If you are looking to turn morning into night, Silver says be prepared to shell out around $450 for a hotel. When you book will play a big part in the price you pay as room prices are expected to climb as Thanksgiving approaches.
Of course, the totally free option remains watching the balloons, floats and performances from the comfort of your couch. New York City estimates that this is how 50 million people will partake in the fun.
