In this "The Cost of," we are giving you some ideas for a major takeout deal.

You have to dish out to dine out these days. Looking at the cost you pay on food away from home, adjusted for inflation, our partners at Investopedia say it is around $4,000 a year.

News 12 wanted to bring that number down, so we tested out the app "Too Good To Go." On the website, the app says its goal is to fight food waste by pairing with restaurants and stores to offer deals on food leftovers at the end of the day.

Logging on we found a surprise bag at a café for $3.99. You reserve the order, pay, and then pick it up during the time listed, but you don't know what will be in the bag.

For this order we received two loaves of bread, four croissants and a mini cake, all for $3.99. To give you an idea of the savings, just one croissant at the spot runs at around $4.
