It’s a busy day for chocolate shops across New Jersey, including Dayton Chocolates in Clifton, and today, you can make sure you wow your sweetheart with some homemade sweets.

Dan, Joan, and his sister Mary Anne help run the family business.

Dan’s dad came over from Greece in the 1940s, and his mom and dad bought the business in 1951.

It was an ice cream parlor and chocolate shop, but then went to just chocolates in the 1970s.

"I stumbled across it because I live local, but after trying it,” says Lisa McAdams, of Clifton. “The chocolate just melts in your mouth. It makes great gifts. Some people are dark chocolate and milk, so I get the best of both worlds."

The shop is located at 1053 Bloomfield Ave.

Dayton Chocolates started back in 1912.
