Outdoor hockey is coming to New Jersey for the very first time.
The NHL Stadium Series will take place at MetLife Stadium the weekend of Feb. 17.
Preps were being made at the stadium on Friday as the football field is being turned into a hockey rink. Officials say that fans should not be concerned that the weather will be too warm for the ice.
"Please do not be concerned, we did a game in [Los Angeles.] I think the temperature was 68 degrees. In Colorado, we had a high-60-degree day. This is the best ice crew in the world. They are amazing at what they do,” says Steven Mayer, executive producer of the NHL Stadium Series.
The New Jersey Devils will be playing the Philadelphia Flyers next Saturday at 8 p.m. The New York Rangers will face the New York Islanders the following day at 3 p.m.
New Jersey’s own The Jonas Brothers will play a full concert at 6 p.m. before the Saturday game. And New Jersey natives The Gaslight Anthem will perform during the first intermission of the game.
Fans are urged to arrive early.
