(05/06/08) TRENTON ? Testimony in the divorce trial of ex-Governor Jim McGreevey and Dana Matos McGreevey was delayed after the proceedings opened Tuesday.
Lawyers for both sides spent the day talking in front of the judge. The closed-door proceedings have to deal with the custody of the couple?s 6-year-old daughter. Dana Matos McGreevey had no comment for reporters as she walked into the courthouse. McGreevey and his attorney entered the courthouse through the back, with McGreevey only saying that it was ?a beautiful day.?
McGreevey resigned in his first term as governor in 2004 after proclaiming he was ?a gay American.?
Matos McGreevey claims the ex-governor committed fraud by marrying her. She is also asking for $600,000 for time she would have spent in the governor?s mansion if McGreevey hadn?t resigned.
Reports have recently surfaced about threesomes between the former governor, Matos McGreevey and a male staffer. McGreevey says those claims are true, while Matos McGreevey denies them.
