Tenants of a building on Grand Avenue say colonies of rats have been making themselves at home for weeks, and they want the city to help get rid of them.
Residents blame the empty house next door and a nearby park for creating the perfect breeding grounds for rodents. They say they've tried everything from poison to traps, and even cats, but the rats just won't leave.
News 12 The Bronx reached out to the Department of Housing for more information. They say they are monitoring the issue, but that it is the owner's responsibility to keep the home rat-free.
According to the Department of Finance, a woman named Dolores Dixon owns the home. Dixon died in 2009.
The two other owners listed on the property are Sand Canyon Corporation and Saxon Mortgage Services.
