Garden State residents are being warned to stay hydrated and keep cool as temperatures climb into the 90s to kick off the week.
The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for most of the state Sunday, and an excessive heat warning was also issued for southwestern areas of the state.
The forecast for Tuesday didn't offer much of a break. Temperatures in the mid-90s were expected under partly sunny skies.
Experts say people should drink lots of water, avoid overly strenuous activities, stay away from alcohol while spending time out in the sun, and wear plenty of sunscreen.
