FORECAST:
The weather is going to be one thing this week. Consistent. Consistently windy. What was once thought to be a rainy week is now turning into something more. The rain doesn't look to be an issue. Three maybe five straight days of wind off the ocean will push ocean water back towards the beaches. Tides will be running much higher than normal. Expect at least nuisance saltwater inundation starting on Wednesday high tide cycle. If the winds continue in the same direction until Friday, expect the flooding to be much worse.
Why would it get worse? Five straight days raises the tides enough where most coastal areas will see some sort of coastal flooding. As the approach of the full moon nears on this upcoming Saturday, the tides will have an even bigger pull on them and could be running 1 to almost 3 feet above normal. That's without the help of this possible ongoing wind event.
The biggest takeaway in this week's forecast. Residents who live in an area that is prone to any kind of nuisance salt-water flooding, are advised to start taking precautions now to get possessions to dryer- higher ground. The next few high tide cycles are going to be wet.
