A 16-year-old Hunterdon County boy has successfully lobbied New Jersey lawmakers to create a day of charity in the state.
April 28 will officially become “Pay it Forward Day” in the Garden State – a day where New Jerseyans are supposed to participate in charitable events.
Mateo Hollain says that he has been involved in community service since he was 5 years old. The soon-to-be junior at Hunterdon Central High School is now taking his message statewide.
“I decided that would be my mission – to get “Pay it Forward Day” an official day on the New Jersey calendar and that would be another step to help as many people as I can,” Hollain says.
Hollain says that he is now trying to get as many businesses, schools and people to commit to doing something that benefits someone else on April 28, 2020.
