A 15-year-old girl was injured in a shooting Wednesday night in Asbury Park, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired just after 11 p.m. in the area of the Washington Village Apartment complex on Washington Avenue.
The prosecutor's office said that at the scene, officers found the teenage girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her leg. A vehicle located in a driveway and the Washington Village security booth were also struck by gunfire.
News 12 has been told that between five and seven shots were fired.
The victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with a non-life-threatening injury.
Several shootings have taken place on Washington Avenue in recent weeks, including one incident in which at least three bullets were fired into a home. No one was hurt during that shooting.
Details regarding a suspect were not immediately available.
The shooting remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Detective John Leibfried at 800-533-7443 and Asbury Park Police Department Detective Steven Ramseur at 732-774-1300.
