Tattoo parlors around New Jersey will be able to reopen by June 22 after being closed for three months amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The owner of Okami Tattoo in Newfoundland, Passaic County says that customers won’t see too much of a difference after safety protocols are put into place.
David Spartaro says that the tattoo industry already takes safety and health seriously and that artists already wear gloves and use disposable supplies.
“The only difference from my normal Tuesday versus the Tuesday they will allow us to reopen with whatever these new guidelines are, I assume they may include a contactless temperature taking, which is a pretty simple fix. Other than that, it’s pretty ‘business as usual,’” he says.
The governor’s office has not issued any guidance just yet on protocols for tattoo parlors.
Spartaro says that most of his artists sold artwork online while the shop was closed.
