(AP) - New Jersey State Police say a fire thatstarted on a Perth Amboy highway when an empty tanker truck crashedinto a road construction vehicle and overturned has been broughtunder control.
State Police Capt. Al Della Fave said the tanker struck the backof a New Jersey Department of Transportation construction truck onRoute 440 northbound around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
New Jersey Department of Transportation spokeswoman Erin Phalonsaid some of the northbound lanes of the road, which lead to theOuterbridge Crossing to Staten Island, may remain closed throughrush hour.
Southbound lanes and one northbound lane were reopened withintwo hours after the accident.
Phalon said two Transportation Department workers who were inthe state truck when the tanker crashed into it were injured, andthat the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
