Talner Jewelers has been in business for 97 years, making it a historical relic in the City of New Rochelle.
The jewelry store was founded by Leonard Talner in 1927. Since then, the business has been passed down through generations of owners.
"New Rochelle went from, you know, a vibrant downtown in the 40s, 50s and 60s, and then it started to slide in the 70s and 80s...but somehow we were able to figure it out and survive the changes," said president and co-owner of Talner Jewelers, Albert Tarantino.
The business is home to traditional, high-quality pieces, ranging from jewelry to home decor.
The store is hosting a 30% to 80% off sale right now ahead of the closing. Co-owners Albert Tarantino and Brian Heaps say the decision to close the store was mutual, as both are looking forward to retirement.
"Basically, we've reached a stage in life where it was time to move onto our next chapter," said vice president and co-owner Brian Heaps.
Talner Jewelers is located at 565 Main St. The store is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. After the holiday season, the store will be closed on Sundays.
There is no set closing date for the store, but the goal is sometime after the holiday season.
