As violence escalates, Syrians in New Jersey are trying to find out news about their homeland any way they can.
News 12 New Jersey spoke with some Syrians in Passaic County as they searched for information. Mohammed Khairullah, of Syrian Americans for Democracy, has been searching for information on the internet.
In the U.S., the Obama administration is opening the door a bit to the possibility of helping Syrian rebels with military aid. However, those with family in Syria describe the situation as desperate.
Fehmi Khairullah, of the Syria First Coalition, says he and his wife have woken up to early morning phone calls with explosions and gunfire in the background. New Jersey is home to some of the largest Syrian-American civic organizations in the U.S. The organizations have different views but they seem united against the violence being committed by the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.
