A suspect has been hospitalized following a standoff with authorities, who found a woman dead at the scene.
Plumsted Township police officers were called to a home on Evergreen Road just after 10 a.m. for reports of a domestic incident. Arriving officers found Susan Haskoor, 48, dead from apparent stab wounds.
As officers made their way to the front door of the home, they found a note telling police that there were guns inside the home and that police would be killed if they tried to enter.
Officers called in backup, and authorities from the Ocean County Sheriff's Department and New Jersey State Police responded to provide assistance. Roads in the area were closed off, and about 30 students at New Egypt High School across the street were evacuated as a precaution.
Police sent a robot camera into the home at around 2:30 p.m. and found Arthur Haskoor unresponsive inside the garage. He was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center. His condition is unknown.
According to a spokesperson for the Ocean County Prosecutor's office, the investigation is ongoing and charges against Arthur Haskoor are pending.
