A beloved Summit police officer and mother of three is in need of a kidney transplant.
Officer Karen Stenstrom Saurs, a 20-year member of the Summit Police Department, was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease at age 24.
She now requires a kidney transplant to survive.
The department is asking the public to consider becoming a donor.
The transplant could extend her life 10 to 15 additional years.
