Powerful thunderstorms brought some major flooding to areas of New Jersey Wednesday night.
The rain started to fall heavy Wednesday evening around the state, causing the National Weather Service to issue flash flood warnings for several counties.
Parts of the Garden State Parkway in Essex County were closed for a time after reports of major flooding near Exit 143 in Irvington.
Hoboken also saw flooding. A News 12 viewer sent in pictures of flooding near Fourth and Jackson streets.
In nearby Jersey City, police had to rescue drivers from cars stuck in floodwaters near Sip and West Side avenues.
