The head of the MTA says the agency's deficit is larger than once projected.

Executive Director Eliot Sander says all measures - such as additional fare hikes and drastically reduced service - are on the table as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority added another $600 million to an already staggering $1.2 billion deficit.

The MTA board had already decided in March to close the original gap by increasing fares an average of 23 percent while cutting service and jobs.
