Law enforcement and a local business owner are teaming up to help catch a man who police say is responsible for slashing tires on about 100 vehicles this summer.
Crime Stoppers and the Manville Police Department have already joined forces to offer a $3,000 reward to help catch the suspect.
And now Anthony Daniello, owner of Manville Pizza, is also contributing money.
"I saw the reward that was posted by Crime Stoppers and it wasn't enough. In my opinion, it wasn’t enough, something had to be done,” he says. “The least I could have done was match it and hopefully that would have inspired others to do the same, if not, chip in what they could.”
Daniello says that some of his customers have had their tires slashed multiple times.
In the most recent incident, the suspect vandalized 80 cars early Wednesday morning.
Manville police say that they have images of the culprit caught on surveillance video. They say that they believe that the suspect is acting alone. He is described as a tall, thin white man who was wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket.
Anyone with any information about the incidents should call 1-888-577-TIPS (8477) or the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 908-231-7100 or the Manville Police Department at 908-725-7677.
