Stormy weather brought heavy rain and strong winds to parts of New Jersey Thursday afternoon and evening.
The storm caused thousands of people throughout the state to lose power and knocked down trees in multiple towns, such as Middletown and Bayonne. Nearly 60,000 utility customers were without power as of 10 p.m. Thursday.
The stormy weather also caused issues at Newark Liberty International Airport. More than 400 flights were delayed and over 100 were canceled due to weather.
The storms have moved out of the Garden State. Friday – the first day of summer – is expected to have nice weather as temperatures potentially rise into the triple digits by the end of the weekend.
