Many of us just want to get to our holiday destination with as little frustration as possible. Is that really too much to ask? Having to spend time with family is exasperating enough.
Unfortunately, the weather isn't going to cooperate much. The wet weather sliding through tonight isn't too terrible. It may briefly drop visibility with a quick, torrential burst of rain. Rain and puddles will make the roads slippery, so slow down and give yourself extra space between you and the driver ahead of you.
This will be part of the back end of a weather system that brought rain to the area yesterday and this morning. It was also responsible for the warm-up today. New Jersey climbed to 61 degrees, the warmest it's been since Nov. 10. This warm-up is short-lived. The winds will be changing direction, and much colder air from Canada is on the way.
Morning lows will be around 40 degrees. The winds will be gusting to 30 mph. This is going to make it feel like 32 degrees. All of those turkey trots and pre-dinner football games and traditions will be on the cold side. Not the coldest of Thanksgivings, but a reminder that winter is not too far off.
Thanksgiving will be breezy and cold. Winds will make it feel colder. The winds will carry over to Friday morning. Early morning shoppers need to bundle up. Wind chills will be in the upper 20s and low 30s. Friday is mainly sunny and the wind continues. The wind looks to continue through Saturday.
On Sunday, if you or loved ones are traveling home, the weather could be mildly disruptive. Another weather system looks to spin some rain back in our direction. The weather could offer delays, because why not?
